Jammu and Kashmir Anantnag Encounter: The households of the brave officers in Jammu and Kashmir are shrouded in mourning. In Anantnag, three officers from the army and police fell victim to a despicable attack and ambush by terrorists. DSP Humayun Bhatt of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was laid to rest in the quiet of the night. Meanwhile, the final farewell for the two army officers will take place today. The families of these valiant heroes, who gave their all for the nation, are exemplifying remarkable fortitude, even as tears glisten in their eyes.

Major Ashish Dhone’s Family:
Major Ashish Dhone, hailing from the village of Bijnor in Panipat district, met his martyrdom in a counter-terrorism encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier this year, Major Ashish was honored with a gallantry award. His family and village are immersed in grief at the loss of their only brother. His father, a retired employee of the NFL, resides in a rented house in Sector-7. The entire family calls Sector 7 of Panipat home. Major Ashish was posted to Jammu just two years ago, having previously served in Meerut. He had taken a brief leave from his posting six months ago to attend his brother-in-law’s wedding.

Colonel Manpreet Singh’s Family:
Colonel Manpreet Singh, hailing from Sector 26 in Panchkula, met his martyrdom. His family comprises his wife, Jagmeet Grewal, who serves as a lecturer at a government school in Haryana. They have two children, a 6-year-old son, and a 2-year-old daughter. Colonel Manpreet Grewal’s last rites will be conducted today. He was at the forefront of the operation in Anantnag. Colonel Manpreet Singh also held the position of Commanding Officer, leading a unit of the National Rifles.

DSP Humayun Bhatt’s 2-Month-Old Daughter, Father a Retired Policeman:
DSP Humayun Bhatt, who lost his life in the encounter, leaves behind a 2-month-old daughter. His father, Gulam Hasan Bhatt, is a retired Inspector General of Police (IGP) from Jammu and Kashmir. Unfortunately, despite extensive efforts, DSP Humayun Bhatt could not be saved due to profuse bleeding. It is worth mentioning that DSP Humayun Bhatt’s father, Gulam Hasan Bhatt, had also served in the police force and retired at the rank of IGP.

The entire nation swells with pride for these three immortal martyrs and their families. Simultaneously, there is an outpouring of anger among the people directed towards Pakistan for this cowardly act. The populace is calling for Pakistan to be held accountable and taught a lesson.
