Salve’s second marriage was with Caroline Brossard in 2020, but they later divorced. He is a Supreme Court lawyer and is counted among the most prominent lawyers in the country. He handles many high-profile cases and is considered one of the world’s most expensive lawyers.

Salve’s first marriage was with Meenakshi. He has two daughters, Sakshi and Saniya, from this marriage. He represents several major industrial groups in the country and was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2015.

Harish Salve is also the lawyer for Kulbhushan Jadhav, who is imprisoned in Pakistan. He argued Jadhav’s case in the International Court of Justice, where the fee was just one rupee.

Salve is a senior advocate and has previously served as Solicitor General. He has been practicing law since 1980.

In the hit and run case involving Salman Khan in 2015, Salve argued on behalf of Khan, and Khan was granted bail.

Salve was born on June 22, 1955, in Maharashtra. His grandfather, P.K. Salve, was also a prominent criminal lawyer. His father, N.K.P. Salve, was a Congress leader and served as a central minister. His mother, Ambriti Salve, was a doctor.

After completing his commerce degree, Salve started his journey towards becoming a lawyer. He initially worked under his maternal uncle, who was a junior of renowned lawyer Soli Sorabjee. In 1976, he began working with Soli Sorabjee. Later, he moved to Delhi and started practicing in the Supreme Court.

In 1992, he was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court. In 1999, he was appointed as Solicitor General, although he declined the same offer in 2002. He currently has his office in Delhi’s Bhagwan Das Road.

Salve is known to have diverse interests, including playing the piano, driving a Bentley, and reading books. He is also a gadget enthusiast and keeps up with the latest mobile phones. He is considered one of the highest-paid advocates in the country, with some reports suggesting he charges a minimum of 4.5 lakh rupees per appearance. Some sources claim he charges 30 lakh rupees per day.

Salve has handled numerous high-profile cases, including the Vodafone tax case, representing Mukesh Ambani in the Reliance gas dispute, and representing the Indian government in the case of two Italian marines. He has also represented the Delhi Police in the case involving yoga guru Ramdev.

Salve’s second wife, Caroline, is an artist, and they primarily reside in London. They often travel to India for court appearances. Salve is not only a lawyer in the Supreme Court but also a member of the English Bar.
