The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has sprung into action, mobilizing emergency response teams to provide vital assistance on the ground. Nations such as Qatar and Turkey have swiftly dispatched aid to Libya, demonstrating international solidarity in times of crisis. Even Pope Francis has expressed his deep concern and offered prayers for both Libya and the victims of the Morocco earthquake.

The Pope’s heartfelt message resonated with many: “My thoughts go out to the people of Libya, hardly hit by violent rains that triggered floods and caused numerous deaths and injuries, as well as extensive damage. I invite you to join me in my prayers for those who have lost their lives, their families, and the displaced. Do not forget to express your solidarity with these brothers and sisters so tried by this calamity.” He also extended his prayers to the Moroccan earthquake victims, emphasizing the need for support in the face of adversity.

Palestine, too, has stepped forward to assist Libya during this climatic catastrophe. A specialized Palestinian rescue team, comprising members from the Civil Defense, the Ministry of Health, and the Red Crescent, embarked on a mission to Libya on September 13. Their primary objective is to participate in search and rescue operations. Notably, this Palestinian team is well-equipped for water rescue missions and includes medical professionals from various specialties, as well as a nursing team specializing in operating rooms.
